Mary Papazian’s Visit to NCIE

 On October 10, 2022, The National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship welcomed the 30th President of the University of San Jose - the only public university in Silicon Valley, Dr. Mary Papazian. She is the only President of a university in the US of Armenian descent.

During the roundtable, after the members welcomed her to the center, Dr. Papazian shared her future intentions of contributing to further achievements in Armenia. Along with her initial effort to improve the Armenian public with her experience, she visited NCIE to introduce the latest developments in innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Dr. Mary Papazian was among the many experts to visit our center to share their expertise in the hopes of a further developed innovation ecosystem in Armenia. She was the co-moderator of the Fishbowl session featuring outstanding contributors of sustainability, fintech, and edtech at the Global Innovation Forum 2022, organized by the FAST Foundation. She also was a speaker during the Science and Technology Convergence Conference that took place in Yerevan on October 28 and 29.

Mary Papazian, Ph.D., was born in 1959 in California, United States. Gaining her higher education at the University of California, Dr. Papazyan became a prominent leader among higher education organizations as the former President of Southern Connecticut State University and the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lehman College.

Her future objectives are based on advancing the Armenian innovation ecosystem for a stronger and more competitive position of the country on a global scale. She invites leading scientists and experts to engage extensively in improving a proactive innovation and entrepreneurship system in Armenia.

Dr. Mary Papazian has been to Armenia for the first time in 1974. She tries to adjust every visit to Armenia by conducting lectures focused on global scientific and technological advancements. She is a proud Armenian-American dedicated to serving the Armenian community in both the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora by being committed to developing a viable future for Armenia.
