21st Annual Science Olympiad

For the past 20 years, The Association of Armenian Scientists and Engineers of America (AESA) has conducted an annual science olympiad for local high school students in Los Angeles. Students from Armenia & Artsakh have participated in AESA annual science olympiads for the last 3 years. The Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America, Inc. (AESA) is a non-partisan and non-sectarian philanthropic organization focused primarily on addressing fellow Armenians' professional, technical, and scientific needs throughout the world. 

On March 26-27, the 21st Annual Science Olympiad was held online with the participation of students from Los Angeles, Armenia, and Artsakh. 87 high school students, of which 71 were from Armenia, 13 from the USA and 3 from Artsakh. On Tuesday, May 3, the award ceremony at the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship's Auditorium in Yerevan was attended by around 100 students, teachers, and program representatives who participated in the competition, along with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Janna Arzumanyan and the CEO of NCIE, Hayk Margarian. 

The event's opening speech was done by Mrs. Alla Arzymanyan "I support this initiative because this is the path we must take and expand it for all our children by encouraging them to do science. "These are competitions that give children a real opportunity to do something that shows the importance of education and science in everyone's life and its perspective significance." She also mentioned the establishment of engineering laboratories in all schools and the increase of the science budget by 83%. 

The CEO of NCIE, Hayk Margarian, emphasized the importance of science and technology and similar competitions that have been implemented in Armenia. He motivated students to work on their knowledge continuously and contribute to the development of our country. Sona Juharyan, President of the AESA Scientific Olympiad Committee (SOC), congratulated all the students for their hard work, dedication, and creative projects, making the 21st AESA Science Olympiad a successful, memorable event.

Some key points about AESA Scientific Olympiad.

  1. Applications are accepted for projects based on experience in natural sciences, physical sciences, chemistry, and engineering. 
  2. The AESA Science Olympiad provides academic competition for two academic levels: middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). 
  3. Студенческие проекты оцениваются опытными "судьями" на основе креативности, научного подхода, восприятия и презентации. 
  4. The Science Olympiad follows the rules and regulations of the California Science Fair. Individual students or groups of 2-3 students can submit their project.
  5. We also allow students from different districts to form a team and work on a project of their choice if they feel the need.
