BANA’s Opening Ceremony

On January 20, NCIE members Gagik Arutyunyan and Gassia Samuelian participated in the opening ceremony of “The Factory by BANA” co-working space and SAP Startup Factory’s Demo Day of the first batch startups.

BANA provides a platform for investors to meet and cooperate with their peers and connect them with promising startups and entrepreneurs. After the keynote speeches and congratulations, they enjoyed the pitching sessions of 8 startups and had fun networking with special guests.

We would like to congratulate BANA for their new partnership with SAP that gave access to the biggest B2B customer base actively supporting and guiding successful Armenian startups into international markets.

We look forward to collaborating on future projects.

3rd Roundtable for “Connecting Champions of Workforce Development” Event

On November 23, 2021, several representatives from NCIE attended the third roundtable discussion held by American Councils for International Education Armenia in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Yerevan: «Connecting Champions of Workforce Development.»

The roundtable’s topic was Armenian Start-up and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem. It aimed to bring together champions from various sectors to define the opportunities and pressing needs of 21st-century workforce development.

Hayk Margarian gave a brief presentation of NCIE’s function and projects, and the Entrepreneurship Advisor, Grachia Margarian, spoke about NCIE’s Unified Multifunctional Center for Business. During the Workshop, we brainstormed existing problems and innovative solutions relating to the current Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in the regions and Yerevan. Participants shared their great ideas and recommendations, which we can implement in our Center.

The series of roundtables are part of the U.S. Embassy Yerevan-funded project: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Networking Fund. The cross-cutting goal is to ensure that Alumni of U.S. government exchanges can continue to contribute to the ever-changing needs of the workforce, entrepreneurial activity, and higher education in Armenia.

The 8th Armenian-Ukranian Inter-Governmental Comission

After a pause of 8 years, the 8th Assembly of the joint Armenian-Ukrainian inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation took place in Yerevan, Armenia, on the 14th of September 2021 to intensify the collaboration between countries, improve the mutually beneficial cooperation and create a better future.

“We agreed that it’s necessary to focus on the social sector because there is a big Armenian Diaspora in Ukraine, and they also closely follow what is happening in Ukraine. And I am sure that they would like us to cooperate more and further develop our relations and that our citizens get satisfied with the life quality both in Armenia and Ukraine”, the Ukrainian minister said.

The delegation of Armenia included officials from different ministries and agencies. The director of the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Hayk Margarian, and our Center’s Business Development Expert, David Shahverdyan, took part in this meeting where both parties agreed that there is a great potential for bilateral trade and economic cooperation in various fields such as social policy, agriculture, education, science, and digital transformation.

At the end of the session, a respective protocol was signed by both parties creating large-scale cooperation aiming to strengthen the trade ties, establish Armenian-Ukrainian joint ventures and organize business-oriented events.
